The hurricane wasn't so bad where we are at least. A lot of wind and rain. The storm is having drastic affects in a lot of places, but we are lucky in that the major thing that is going to affect us is water on the roads, but that shouldn't last long, and may even be gone now (I haven't been out yet). We've been stuck inside the past couple of days, but it's pretty nice out today. Windy but sunny.
I actually had a relatively good time during the hurricane. The power went out once for a couple of hours, but we have a generator, so it was never an issue. We had a lot of quality time together, being stuck in the house. In the last two days, mom has taught me the basics on how to crochet, and we've been working scarves. Its a LOT of fun, and I think its a nice skill to have. Plus, now I can make as many scarves/hats as I want. I haven't gotten to the point where I really want to try to do a blanket yet. That may come later, who knows. And now I know what I can do next time we lose power at home (where we don't have a fancy dancy generator).
It's nice to be able to spend time with everyone here.. We did wish we could go out a few times, but overall I can't complain.
It's kind of crazy how fast my time has gone by since I've been in North Carolina. We haven't had an opportunity to go out a lot with the weather, but it's been nice to be with Papa, Mom, and Justin for a while. It's hard to get out here because everyone is working and it's not like New York and Boston where I could jump on the train and run into the city. I think that is a reason why traveling is so nice, you get different and new experience in each place. Here in North Carolina, I have already done a lot of the 'to-dos' in previous trips, so this time it is a lot of just hanging around and having some quality time with a side of the family I don't get to see often enough.
