All the Things..

Ruth and I did too much yesterday to fit into a title.
World Trade Center Memorial
Wall Street
Staten Island Ferry
Subway
Food in Chinatown
New York Philharmonic Orchestra

Yeah.
First: World Trade Center Memorial.
After navigating down town, we parked the car and made our way to the World Trade Center Memorial. Thank goodness Ruth had gone before and from past experience of being denied, knew that we had to get tickets (free) to get in. With tickets in hand, we made our way through the lines. I swear, it was almost as bad as airport security getting through there. But we made it. Once we got in the memorial it really didn't seem as crowded as I would have imagined from the lines. The memorial was really nice though. For those of you who haven't seen pictures, they took the footprint of the two towers and turned them into huge reflecting pools, with all of the names of the people who died along the edges. It was beautiful.

Next: Wall Street.
Wall Street isn't much. Really, its just a really small street that cars can't drive on and is filled with bankers and stock brokers on the weekdays..

Staten Island Ferry.
After we walked down Wall St, we headed to the Staten Island ferry terminal. The Staten Island Ferry is free. Yes, you read right.. something in New York City is free. I was amazed too. We decided to go on the ferry, because you have a great view of the Statue of Liberty, and we didn't really have the time to go climb up her and still make dinner and the orchestra. So, after two weeks of being in NYC, I finally saw the Statue of Liberty! (:

After we got off of the ferry back in Manhattan, we made out way up to Chinatown via the subway. It was hot! But man alive, it was worth it with the food. We ordered the house specialty, dumplings filled with pork and soup, as well as General Tso's chicken, and sweet pea greens. If you've never had sweet pea greens, you're missing out because they are delicious. Everything was delicious. I could eat that meal morning noon and night if I was given a choice.

After supper we walked back to the car, and quickly made our way to Lincoln Center for the orchestra. They have a really nice center with an opera house and theaters for plays and whatnot.
We picked up our tickets at will call and found our seats. Front row. Ruth is awesome. We couldn't see a lot of the orchestra's faces, but we got to see the pianist's hands, which was AMAZING. They were awe-inspiring. The whole orchestra was fantastic. I don't even know what else to say. It was just wonderful.
