First official college visit in Boston! ..even though I don't see myself really going to MIT... even if it is dad's favorite. ;) (Dad wants me to learn from the group of students who made a huge amount of money by going to Vegas every weekend and counting cards.)
Well, I hopped on the train today like usual and rode into the city. I've gotten used to the train, its a pretty nice setup actually; way easier than it would be to find a parking spot.. if I had a car. Anyways I got off the train and started off towards MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). It was a longer walk than I expected, but not overly long, and I got my exercise for the day!
So, I arrived at MIT and started exploring the campus. Most of the buildings that I've seen are older, made out of concrete, with pillars out front, but the inside is pretty modern. I roamed around a few buildings containing classrooms, labs, and offices, trying my best not to get lost.
It was pretty neat, and I would have sat in on a class, but I wouldn't have had a clue what they were talking about. MIT isn't really the college for me. Too.. technical. Especially since I don't really know what I want to do.
Anyways, so after I explored the classrooms, I found the student center, and explored a bit there (lots of food, but abundantly more coffee than anything else). I always like looking around student centers because you get more of a sense of what the campus life is like, and what kind of students go there. Naturally it was filled with students working on laptops and whatnot, but I found a couple of study groups together as well.
I am currently sitting out in some kind of commons, taking advantage of the beautiful weather and free wifi to write this blog. It makes you kind of feel like a college student.... without the homework. The more I think about it the more I want to go to college... the real question is what for? Who knows. I'll figure it out sooner or later I guess!
Its nice just watching the people go by. What I've learned so far is that college students like to read books and throw frisbees. (sounds like a good time to me!)
I didn't throw a frisbee and I didn't like reading the books I had to, but maybe that is why I was at Iowa State not at MIT. Still wondering how you knew the guy at the mall was German?
ReplyDeleteHe must have been wearing lederhosen
ReplyDeleteYep, that was definitely it dad.
ReplyDeleteNo, he had a European accent that sounded strongly German. He just started talking to me while I was waiting for my food.
