Yesterday, like normal, I jumped on the train and went into the city. I had no real plans, except to wander around, so I ended up in Boston Commons reading a book. After a good amount of time reading, I headed down towards Quincy Market to grab food and window shop. When I was in Quincy Market the first time, when I first went to Boston, I only got to explore the market for a little bit in between tours. So, I grabbed a bite to eat (you walk down the main building and its lined with food) and looked around a bit. Basically, it's three long buildings with lots of little shops. So, I window shopped for a bit, but didn't find anything too spectacular or any stores that I haven't seen before, so I started making my way back to the train station... Until I ran into the same tour guide that I had when I went on the Freedom Trail. We recognized each other right away (although that wasn't very hard on my part, his colonial garb is hard to miss) and briefly caught up. He was starting another tour to some pubs to talk about alcohol during the revolution or some such (I obviously wasn't going on that one), so we talked to the people going on his tour (4 or 5 people) for a little bit before parting. It was nice running into each other, even though I'm pretty sure (who knows!) that we'll probably never meet again. It's fun making acquaintances.
Today, I went back to the Museum of Science and saw a show at the planetarium. I got there early, so ended up walking around the museum again for a couple hours beforehand. Not much changed there. So the show I went to see was mainly about planets outside our solar system. It was pretty interesting actually.... even if I didn't retain a whole lot of the knowledge. The whole thing was pretty cool, sitting back and looking up at the (fake) stars and planets as you 'travel' lightyears away and look at planets and stars that we can hardly see. So after the planetarium, I made my way back to train station, but not before stopping for a milkshake on the way. Did you know that in Boston, a milkshake isn't a milkshake, it's a 'frappe'. A milkshake is milk that has been flavored, but with no ice cream. If you want your milkshake to be an actual milkshake, you order a frappe..
Well, Frappe
ReplyDeleteI think I'll try to order one of those around here and see what i get, lol ~ course, i'm so out of touch with reality, they might know what i'm talkin about :)
