For one, I've never been to Maine. The coast of Maine is BEAUTIFUL! See for yourself.
So, here is how my day went. I groggily awoke this morning, and as I headed downstairs, Peggy stated her brilliant idea. Peg and Paul have a goddaughter, Amy, who lives in Southern Maine, and just started attending the University of Southern Maine. Peg thought it would be fun to go see Amy, because like me, she doesn't enjoy having to sit in classes very much, but likes being in school and the social aspects of it. I was all for Maine, as I've never been before. So after a pancake breakfast, we hit the road and made it to Portland in just under two hours, around one o'clock. We picked up Amy at her apartment, and drove to the campus. It's really a pretty small campus, but nice. Amy was really fun to talk to, and told us about her college experience so far. She's really into soccer and is spending most of her time there, but enjoys it and is making friends that way. Amy is really great to talk to because you can tell she really isn't into school that much, but is having a good college experience and still working through her classes.
So, we saw the campus, but didn't stay very long because on a Sunday afternoon there isn't actually much going on on campus, and ended up at a coffee shop/bakery most of the time just chatting. It was nice. I couldn't really get much of an impression of Portland, but it seemed like a nice place. not too big and not too small.
Amy had plans at 3, so we left Portland and started heading back home, but naturally, we stopped for lobsters on the way. You can't go to Maine and not have lobster right!? The town we stopped in was small and touristy, right on the ocean. Peg had been there before for lobster and knew that it was good, and she was right. We stopped at a nice restaurant where we could sit outside and eat and had lobster, oysters, and clam chowder, and they were all delicious.
After lobster we hit the road again and boogied back home, because we had tickets to a play at 7:00. We made it back to Boston and picked up Paul, and made it to the theatre just in the nick of time. The play we went to go see was called "Good People", and it was really good. It was about people from South Boston, and the focus of the play was asking if people who were successful worked hard or were just plain lucky. It was entertaining and funny, the acting was great, and they got the audience thinking. The question of luck or work is never truly answered, but I'd like to think that its a combination of both. Some people are extremely lucky, some extremely hard working, and most a mix of the two.

Eating fresh lobster on the coast of Maine, hmmm, I think you just crossed off your bucketlist one of my bucketlist items, and I must say, I'm a little jealous ~ although in a fatherly way. However, your funding is cut off for two weeks, try not to step on my toes too much......(j/k, lyldo, dad)
