Camel's Hump Mountain

WOOOHOOOOOOOOO!
I hiked up a mountain today!
:)
Carol and I set off this morning on our way to the mountain, and after running a few errands, got started on our hike around 11:30. It was a little daunting knowing that Camel's Hump is one of the three tallest mountains in Vermont, but I had the knowledge that my dad, and a 65 year old Aunt Mildred climbed this mountain, not to mention that Carol climbed it every day for a few years. If they could do it, well darn I could too! The climb wasn't as hard as I expected, but I was definitely breathing harder at points. The trail was easy to follow, but had its rocky points. A couple breaks and a couple hours later we had made it to the top, and man was it windy! We stayed up there for a while (staying off the vegetation of course), and had turkey sandwiches for lunch. For those of you that don't know, on the top of Camel's back there are these tiny wildflowers that are endangered or some such, and so you're not allowed off of the rock (which is fine because most of the top of the mountain it rock). A ranger comes up every day to keep hikers from walking on the vegetation, and a while ago that used to be Carol. I wasn't ever worried about getting lost on Camel's Hump, 1) because the train was really easy to follow and 2) because Carol knew that mountain like the back of her hand. Anyways we were up on top of the mountain, and because there were no trees on the top of the mountain you could see everything. it felt like you were on top of the world. Really cool.
So then we started making our way down, and once we got past the really rocky part at the very top (which is pretty steep might I add), it was an easy climb down. We made our way down pretty quickly, and hopped back in the car and came home... not before getting ice cream of coarse.
One of my favorite parts of the day, other than the views (and being able to say that I climbed a mountain), was just being able to talk to Carol for a few hours. Its great to be able to have someone's attention for period of time, uninterrupted; and I like to take advantage of that when I can, especially with people I enjoy being with, like Carol.

Anyways, I feel accomplished for today. I'm exhausted.
Here's some pictures.
